Course in Youth Mentoring
The Course in Youth
Mentoring comprises a total of 80 hours, comprising three units of competency.
YMPYM201 – Plan the Youth Mentoring Process,
40 hours
YMAYM202 – Apply Youth
Mentoring Practices,
25 hours
YMRYM203 – Review Youth
Mentoring,
15 hours
Within this course of study
the participant is required to complete the three (3) units of competency to be
deemed to have met the standards to act as a mentor to young people and to gain
recognition for completion of the course.
It is recommended
that YMPYM201 – Plan the Youth Mentoring Process be delivered first to set the
scene and expectations.
The participant (mentor) is
required to undertake the unit of competency YMAYM202 – Apply Youth Mentoring
Practices prior to one to one activities being undertaken with a mentee.
Participants must
also gain a Blue Card – through Child Protection Legislation, before
participating in any mentoring with young people.
