Specialised Training Services
Entry
Requirements
Before
commencing any course of study with Specialised Training Services, you need to
complete an enrolment plan and induction interview, at this time, we will
determine if you have the pre-requisite requirements for the course you want to
study. We will also discuss the
likely vocational outcomes of the course with you.
If you
are completing the course by distance education, this interview can be conducted
over the phone or over the Internet.
During
the induction, we’d like to learn more about you:
·
why are you
doing the course?
·
what do you
hope to achieve?
·
are you looking
for a job?
·
what time frame
would you like to complete the course in?
·
what type of
learner are you.
We also
need to decide what course will best meet your needs, and which units are
appropriate for you to complete. This
is the development of your individual learning plan.

Training
& Assessment
During
your Orientation your teacher will discuss with you what you want to achieve out
of this course, what skills you are currently using and how you would like to
increase them. Together you will design a plan for your learning to suit you.
This may include Seminars, Classes, the use of Home Study Guides and Texts or
small Workshops with other students. Your teacher will give you a list of the
seminar and class dates.
There
are also different ways in which you can do your assessment - depending on the
unit of competency you are demonstrating you can use practical performance,
assignments, practical projects, written tests or role play and questioning. You
may even be able to fit your assessment in with something you are doing at work.
Your teacher will show you what they need to see and work out with you how you
will go about demonstrating your ability. It is wise to keep a book or binder of
loose leaf pages for you to write all of your Activities in for future
reference. Please also keep a copy of all assignments sent in.
