Good afternoon. 

As you know, I am attending a productivity seminar in the Maldives. I have just participated in a very interesting session on performance management - 'Performance and Profit'. I think we have much room for improvement, particularly in ensuring that we have a consistent and integrated PM system throughout our Australian operations.  

This has inspired me to request that you begin a review of STAR's current system. Please prepare a report and submit it to me when I return. Have a look at our current PM procedures and compare them with other companies' systems. Perhaps your HRM colleagues can help you with this.  

Do you know that we can potentially add millions of dollars to our bottom line by improving the way we manage our employees' performance? I'm pretty fired up about this and look forward to reading your report.
