Look, I'm still not sure why we need to have formal performance management systems. People don't really need constant feedback. I mean, what can you say? 'You're doing great.' Big deal. My people know they're doing okay when I leave them alone and their commissions keep coming in. 

It's better just to let them know when they're off-track. You know, give them a kick where it hurts when they stuff up and let them get on with it.
