SUBJECT: Feedback Regarding Negotiations 

I have been talking with the staff about the progress of negotiations to address the issues we have spoken about in the past. Largely the initiatives are positive. I would like to suggest and endorse such things as a performance appraisal system linked to salary rises, a flexible hours of attendance scheme for administration staff, and shift work arranged so that staff have 4 days on and 4 days off. These look to have some merit. 

But what we really need to see is the bottom line - how much is STAR prepared to put on the table in return for these sweeping changes? Staff really want answers also about job security and what exactly will they be doing as a result of the new arrangements? 

We need answers to these questions soon. The uncertainty is undermining efforts to bring about beneficial change.
