SUBJECT: Report into Reasons for Termination 

Dear Ben, 

As requested, I have completed an analysis of the information gathered from exit interviews from staff that ceased employment with STAR over the past 12 months. 

In preparing this report, I have, where practicable, discussed reasons for leaving with the relevant managers. In most cases, managers agreed with the primary reason given by staff for their decision to leave, although some expressed surprise at the fact that their staff had mentioned other reasons.  

Not all managers had conducted exit interviews, a fact which concerns me. I believe that in some cases, early intervention by the manager or supervisor may have meant that some of these people would still be with us. I am aware that plant managers complain of too many casuals at times, and I feel that part of the problem may be that we are not doing enough to keep the good ones, hence the new faces all the time. 

I'd like the opportunity of discussing this report with you in the near future. We are seeing some alarming trends, but I believe these can be arrested without too much damage if we act quickly.
