SUBJECT: Joan Sidling's Extended Work Absence
Hi. I needed to write to you to get your advice.
One of my Purchasing Officers, Joan Sidling, has been on reduced hours for some months now due to RSI in her wrist and elbow brought on by over-use of the computer (she claims it happened during our last stocktake).
According to her return-to-work plan, she should have been in to see the doctor weeks ago, but nobody has seen her in the office for 2 weeks and her friend Mary is worried that she is not getting any better, just sitting at home feeling sorry for herself.
I did not want to make an issue of it, but the work is not getting done. She won't return my calls, and the insurer is asking difficult questions.
Can you give me some ideas for how I should handle this situation?
