How do I handle new staff in my area? Well, to be honest my supervisors do most of it.

The current policy doesn't give us much to go on, so we try to make it a two-way street with the new people. During probation we hold weekly interviews and joint goal-setting sessions with them. That sets clear performance measures, and it helps us work out training plans or resolve workflow issues. By involving them, they feel a part of our business, and we communicate our expectations clearly.

That's how we do it in Finance.not sure what they'd do on the factory floor though.
